Access is easy with a TGV station at La Rochelle, a train station at Royan, regular bus routes to St Augustin while La Rochelle airport is under an hour away, Bordeaux just an hour and a half away and Limoges a little over two hours away. This is a fantastic location to spend your holidays with activities for all the family including surfing, sailing and swimming in the sea and lake and hiking, biking and horse-riding in the forests and beach, golf, fishing, climbing and much more. For connoisseurs of good wines, Bordeaux, with its many chateaux, and the renowned 1855 Classification, is a must-visit destination. With its plethora of world’s best-known wine estates these prestigious chateaux comprise only a small proportion of the area’s 120,000 hectares of vines that stretch right across the Gironde department in Aquitane and can trace their ancestral roots back around 2000 years to when the Romans ruled the area.
